Kuroko Onatsu is one of seven spawns of Morrow Shadowsend, a divine being made of pure darkness and corruption. When Morrow suffered defeat at the hands of Kassava Onatsu, she split herself into several fragments. They all have their own consciousness, separate from Morrow, making them their own person - but each is using the body of another mortal. They are considered Essence Clones as they all share traits of their creator. The exception is Kuroko who is a true asexually produced offspring of Morrow. She was discovered at a young age by Kassava Onatsu and was adopted into the family. Morrow knew little of where she came from nor her purpose as an offspring of Morrow. That was until she became an adult and began to have nightmares of the events that unfolded between Kassava and Morrow, learning of her true purpose: to destroy all traces of light and hope and to sow chaos and corruption - and bring about the reconstruction and revival of Morrow Shadowsend.Growing up, Kuroko was a quiet girl with a fascination for history. She would always have a book in hand for her to read and she yearned to write her own book about all the things she did in adulthood. She had been adopted by the former Queen of Onatsu and she had a younger sister named Bellona. Kuroko often looked down upon Bellona with disdain and would often verbally attack her. She also didn’t think highly of her other sister Bellona and only ever viewed her as a 'royal whore of impurity.'Kuroko never thought highly of her mother, as she was the one who defeated her creator, but she never spoke much to her if at all. Kuroko kept her thoughts to herself on most things, as they were often harsh and sometimes vile even for a child. She was a quiet girl with a dark side to her... But the once quiet girl was replaced with a different beast that is viewed as a sadistic and evil person once she reached adulthood. Morrow's engrained influence consumed what once was a soft, quiet girl and transformed her into a genocidal and power hungry maniac. However, Kuroko soon came to reject her primary purpose and expelled any trace of Morrow's influence over her. Kuroko then sought to conquer for the sake of dominance over the world and enforce her harsh rules.Kuroko’s mother tried to teach her hand to hand combat, but Kuroko ultimately settled on swordplay. The only time she ever willingly spent with her sister Bellona was teaching her how to wield a sword and other weapons. Kuroko excelled at swordplay and her ability to use fire added some flavor to her fighting style. She had a sword crafted meant to withstand her flames and this would then become her weapon of choice. Kuroko became known as a brilliant sword user and cunning battle tactician.Formally known as the Onatsu Kingdom, Kuroko transformed her mother's land into an imperial superpower once Kassava passed from the curse Morrow imbued on her before she died. Kuroko ruled with an iron fist and extreme dictatorship. Yet despite ruling with such cruel methods, her empire stands as one of the most technologically advanced, economically strong and overall prospering empires in the land. Kuroko has created a great deal of bloodshed during her rule, both in and out of war, and her surviving empire only is as strong as it is because of the lives sacrificed for it.The kingdoms that surrounded the Onatsu Empire would break away and form their own independent nations. They would struggle in comparison and would also go to war with Kuroko. This led to 3 major wars during her time as Empress. The first was with Aurora Nakamori, Queen of the Nakamori Kingdom. Aurora was like Kuroko, another spawn of Morrow. She was also far stronger that Kuroko and nearly killed the Empress. The second war was with the Midori Kingdom against King Cyrus Midori, yet another clone. This war was sparked as a rebel group known as the Defenders of the Faith sought to assassinate Kuroko. The group event went as far as unleashing a giant mecha robot and attempted to nuke not only her, but her Empire as well. That rebellion was put down by Kuroko and Bellona, though the latter greatly had a moral conflict with the rebellion’s leader, Zeta. Kuroko did not fight the king of Midori and Cyrus was defeated by another clone woman by the name of Makoto. Kuroko sought to find Makoto as she did not awaken any memories of Morrow and her true purposes, remaining as a powerful divine being, but was stopped by Bellona. The third war was by Hybris Shadowsend, one of the most powerful essence clones of the seven. She led no kingdom, but managed to destroy most of the Imperial city single-handedly and create a massive, spiraling tower to the skies that would serve as the destruction ritual for Morrow Shadowsend. When Morrow was in the process of being revived, Kuroko had tapped into the power that had laid dormant within her. The power of Corruption (Darkness) Incarnate, which is a power exclusive to Morrow herself. Kuroko had finally reached true divinity and Darkness was her ally and she nearly defeated Hybris and Bellona with it. But she was fatally stabbed by Bellona and she barely escaped into the Realm of Corruption, a pocket dimension. Once she recovered and returned to the real world, she was consumed by Morrow who had been revived by Hybris and Morrow resumed her plans to plunge the world into Darkness and despair. Morrow was destroyed by Bellona who had unlocked a power of her own, the power of Purity (light) and Kuroko briefly attained her physical form again.Kuroko would battle Bellona one last time, as siblings and not enemies, before she would vanish without a trace.

ABILITIES

Essence is a form of energy that exists in living beings. It gives people the ability to live and even summon a great power from within if they wish to draw it out. This power from within can vary from person to person. Thus the majority of the population are superhumans of some kind. This power that people have is what is unknown as an Essence Trait. An Essence Trait is a person’s unique ability that a person uses with essence as its power source. Using an Essence Trait requires a great deal of essence within a person and requires training in order to use it properly and to master it. Most are typically self taught. An Essence Trait is meant to be a person’s unique superpower in a sense, it can be passed from generation to generation or not. For Kuroko, her Essence trait has the ability to create and manipulate fire however she wishes. She can create massive balls of fire from her hands and body. The destructive capabilities are quite vast, as on many of her conquests she burned entire cities to the ground. Once she unlocked her divine powers from Morrow, she became an even greater threat. If given the chance, she could burn as bright as the sun itself. Kuroko also has the power of Corruption (darkness) Incarnate. This allows her to conjure dark shadows from within her and around her. She draws upon the darkness within people’s hearts to power her own abilities. The greater the wickedness within a person, the greater her own power becomes. She must make direct contact with the person to siphon this boost in power. Otherwise, she draws from her own wickedness to create shadow clones, shadow balls and other various attacks.Everyone also has what is known as an Essence Signature. Users of Essence's power can sense other people’s presence. It’s their life force that is detected as well as how great of power a person holds. For a more detailed description of Essence please view here.
